This painting, Gathering, is currently available at Cappaert Contemporary Gallery. The photos below show the embroidery stage of the piece at the beginning and end of the process. In the first photo I’m choosing threads and planning the pattern. The second photo shows a detail of the completed stitching.

Gathering was inspired by orioles, which visit our yard each summer. Last year, they made nests and stayed for several months. Watching them fly and back and forth to and from their nests was inspiration for this piece.
