artistry in the details

detail_image_art_with_water_lilies_and_dragonflies.JPG

This detail image from a work in my Water Lily series provides a peek into the way I work with details. The dragonflies are drawn over a graphite patterns and painted washes. The paint is used to convey the ever-changing light and color on a pond and the dragonflies to convey the energy and motion of the ecosystem. The water lilies are stitched in gold-colored thread to depict that they are something a special, blooming for a only a short time but shimmering when they do.

I really love this piece and am excited to share more photos of the finished work. Sign up for studio emails to find out when this heads to a gallery.
