Winter Studio Journal, Jan. 5

I’m logging studio days here this month, experimenting with sharing more here and less on social media.

Yesterday I stretched a large sheet of watercolor paper by soaking both sides with water. This keeps the paper flat and from buckling when paint is applied. My process for doing this pretty simple. I don’t staple or tape the paper but rather generously coat one side with water, weight it down with some rocks, let it dry, flip the paper over and repeat the process on the other side.

I also spent time cutting out a design for a new work in progress.
