Winter Studio Journal, Jan. 16 and 17: Cutting, painting, and sewing

I’m logging studio days here this month, experimenting with sharing more here and less on social media.

Yesterday was spent cutting out the rose window pattern above. This is slow work and one bad cut can ruin the entire layer. All went well though and the layers are almost ready for stitching.

Today I painting the yellow finch on a different piece (pictured below) and started stitching the layers together. Yellow is an unusual color for me to work in but I’ve been craving it as of late while navigating these winter days.
