art featuring a dragonfly surrounded by beach rocks

Dragonfly_art_on_table_with_mat.JPG

This is a new work of art from my Lily Pond series. The red thread is a bit of an outlier in my palette but I love the way it lends a luminosity to this piece. The other works in the series feature water lilies. The collection was inspired by watching the pond near our house spring to life, after the dormant winter months, every summer.

I love the contrast of something as light and fast and ephemeral as a dragonfly with something as heavy and solid as the beach rocks, the beauty of which is formed over hundreds of years.
