starting new paintings and setting up the studio for summer

My small studio has to serve a lot of purposes and I spent some of last weekend cleaning and organizing it to make space for the creation of a new collection of paintings. I’m hoping to get most of them done by July.

After many years of oil painting, I’ve switched to a lot of gouache and watercolor painting, which I use in my mixed media pieces, and have recently begun working with acrylics. Each medium has it’s nuances and I’m looking forward to deeply investigating the beautiful qualities of acrylic paints in May and June.

I’ll share the glimpses of the process in my studio emails.
