Painting, Paris, Plaster, and Pattern

In winter, I find myself wanting to simply paint, which is what I’ve been doing this past week. This pattern is the foundation for a painting recently begun:

These paintings sprung from plaster work seen in Paris this summer. I’m inspired by the light and shadow of the relief as well as the beautiful designs the patterns create as they repeate in different ways and shapes.

It’s too soon to tell if these paintings will go on to form a body of work and leave the studio.

Right now, they are in a place of play and experimentation, something much needed during the short winter days of February!
