new mixed media painting of orioles in the sunroom

I couldn’t resist taking this piece out to our sunroom when I was photographing it. When the orioles arrive in early summer we watch them come and go from our sunroom windows. This summer they made several nests in the trees that border our property.

My mixed media pieces are made with layers of drawing, painting, and stitching on drafting film and paper. It’s the layers of drafting film that create the encaustic-like effect.
