pink: a subtle accent color

I love using the color pink in subtle ways and often paint it on the bottom layer of a piece so it peeks through the layers over it. It has a quiet, beautiful energy and interacts in interesting ways with a lot of other colors, including gold.

When I’m at a museum, I look for paintings that use color in unexpected and interesting ways—a touch of pink in a work from the Renaissance or bright yellow against a painting of neutrals.

Color is definitely one of the things that drew me to, and keeps me interested in painting and I love seeing new combinations develop in the studio.
