drawn patterns on a gesso-covered table

IMG_0815.JPG

As part of my process, I make patterns, repeating and otherwise. Though this could be done on the computer, I love the process of doing the work by hand and use carbon paper to make repeats of my original drawing.

In this image, they are sitting on the gesso table in the studio where I teach. It has the most beautiful surface, created by 9 years of students using it the gesso paper and canvas.

Head over to Instagram or sign up for studio emails to see more glimpses of process.
