drawing and painting prep work for oil series

Prior to beginning my newest series of oil paintings, I realized I needed a better understanding of deer anatomy so I began sketching white-tailed deer. Other prep work includes working on some pattern designs, inspired by antlers, that will be part of the paintings and making small gouache preliminary studies.
