A Creative Place Exhibition
My two pieces Cicadas (heart) and Collar (throat) at top left in A Creative Place.
Last month I had the opportunity to see A Creative Place at the The Trout Museum of Art. The invitational exhibition was curated by Anne Marie Sawkins and reflects deep knowledge and appreciation for the Wisconsin art community. My favorite parts of the exhibition were some of the pieces from last century and it was interesting to view them in context with contemporary work being made in Wisconsin. I especially love seeing Windsong, a film by Madeline Tourtelot and Harry Partch.
The museum created a beautiful catalogue in conjunction with the exhibition that is well worth a read. I also appreciate the thoughtful comments by Meghan Sullivan, Assistant Professor of Ceramics at Lawrence Univserstiy, about my work, written as part of an exhibition review of the show for the fsm. Arts Journal. It’s always a pleasure to read thoughtful art writing about work in our region.
